Links & special characters
Add a hyperlink, or insert a glyph that isn't on your keyboard.
Links
- Select the text to link (or place the cursor for a new one).
- Choose Insert ▸ Link (Ctrl+K / ⌘K), enter the address, and click OK.
Linked text renders in the link color with an underline. Hold Ctrl / ⌘ and click to open it. Links must be http, https, or mailto.
Special characters
Choose Insert ▸ Special Character (Ctrl+Shift+C / ⌘⇧C). The Common tab holds a curated set; Browse covers ~10,900 glyphs. Search by name or code, and click a glyph to insert it at the cursor.
The Common tab groups a curated set into six categories:
- Punctuation
- Currency
- Math
- Arrows
- Symbols
- Greek
The Browse tab covers ~10,900 glyphs across 73 Unicode blocks, organized into eight groups:
- Latin: basic and extended Latin letters, IPA, and combining diacritics.
- Greek & Cyrillic: Greek, Coptic, and the full Cyrillic family.
- Middle Eastern: Armenian, Hebrew, and Arabic.
- Punctuation & Letterlike: general and supplemental punctuation, superscripts and subscripts, currency, letterlike symbols, and number forms.
- Math & Arrows: arrows plus mathematical operators and symbols.
- Technical & Shapes: technical symbols, box drawing, block elements, and geometric shapes.
- Symbols & Dingbats: miscellaneous symbols, dingbats, enclosed alphanumerics, alchemical symbols, and playing cards.
- Historical scripts: Runic, Ogham, Old Italic, Gothic, Linear A and B, Cuneiform, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, and more.
