What GLASS is

GLASS is a desktop word processor built for authors.

You work in one document that can be viewed through two different lenses, called modes:

  • Draft Mode is the writing surface, for composing, structuring, and formatting prose.
  • Review Mode is the editing surface, for spelling & grammar checks, editorial collaboration, tracked suggestions, comments, and version history.

It's the same document either way; the mode just changes which tools are in front of you, so you only ever see what you need, when you need it. When you're producing prose, you're in Draft Mode. When you're evaluating it, you're in Review Mode.

Note

Page layout for a finished, press-ready book (master pages, bleed, proof-grade PDF) lives in KILN (coming soon), the sibling app. GLASS writes the manuscript; KILN designs the professional layout.
