Tables
GLASS supports simple manuscript tables, a clean grid of cells that hold prose.
- Choose Insert ▸ Table and pick the size you want.
- Type in a cell. Press Tab to move to the next cell, Shift+Tab / ⇧Tab to go back. Tab in the last cell adds a row.
- Right-click in the table for the Table menu: insert or delete rows and columns, turn a bold Header Row on or off, or choose Delete Table.
Step 1 looks a little different on each platform. On Windows, Insert ▸ Table opens a grid: move the pointer across it to set the size, up to 8×8, and click. You can also move through the grid with the arrow keys and press Enter. For a bigger table, choose Insert Table below the grid, set the rows and columns in the dialog with the − and + buttons or the arrow keys, up to 20 each, and click Insert. On macOS, choose Insert ▸ Table ▸ Insert Table and use the same dialog. Both insert the same kind of table.
Drag the line between two columns to resize them; an emerald guide previews the change. A long table splits between rows across pages, and a header row repeats on each new page.
Cells hold prose only. Breaks, chapter markers, footnotes, endnotes, and other tables can't go inside a cell. Merged cells, selecting a range of cells, and captions aren't supported yet, and a single row doesn't split across pages.
