Guide/Part Three · Structure a manuscript
Reorder chapters & interludes
Move a whole chapter (its heading, prose, notes, and lists) to a new place, and let GLASS renumber.
- Open the Contents panel (Ctrl+Shift+N / ⌘⇧N).
- Drag a chapter row to a new slot and release; an emerald insertion line shows where it will land. Or put the cursor in the chapter and press Alt+↑ / ⌥↑ / Alt+↓ / ⌥↓.
Chapter badges, footnote numbers, and any hand-typed chapter numbers renumber to match. The whole move is a single undo step.
Note
Turn on a chapter's Unnumbered toggle to make it an interlude or epilogue. It's still a real chapter (fresh page, note reset) but skipped by the number sequence, so the chapters around it count past it.
